I'm still stunned that WOTC/Atari flopped & pulled this game. Was well-done (albeit quite limited in options for 'real' gamers) and had a ton of potential.

Wonder how regretful those 2 co's will be when a similar game takes it's niche and then launches some huge startup?

FB needs a similar game (! w/more room for players to 'play') ASAP!

You made the choice so no-one would regret making a bad choice.

I didn't like that aspect of the game, but then again -- I would've made a good choice.

I don't like 'design for dummies' but rather 'design for smart people' and let the GUI guide those who need help. (Easy to type, hard to create.)

Then again, Google (and now FB) have designed lots of stuff that no one could figure out how to use. HA HA HA

I have a few things to say about this game --
1 - I played it a lot & had some fun with it.
2 - I was stunned at WOTC's lack of tact in pulling it down. It was like a smack in the face, and it was very rude & disrespectful to players -- whether or not Atari had the D&D digital game rights.
3 - I had some issues with the gameplay, namely that it was mostly an 'inventory management' game (many friends disputed whether it actually qualified as a game).
4 - It seems to me there is a HUGE NICHE for a FaceBook text-based roleplaying game with multiplayer aspects and less 'hack & slash' gameplay aspects.

I would love to see you repurpose your game design and make it less "D&D" specific (or secure minimal rights from Atari) but keep the adventurous fantasy angle? Any chance of that?

Thanks for the info on the game & congrats on one of the best FB games so far.

This is fantastic.

May I suggest calling them "Conspiracies"? Give them the flavour that these are the kind of millennia-spanning schemes that Nicol Bolas would come up with.

For example, "The Ascendant" could be renamed "Ascend to Godhood", while "The Banker" could be called "Trophy Hunting".

Fantastic idea.

I just wanted to thank you for your work on Vanguard. It was my favorite format by far because it let you build interesting, competitive decks, without having to put out the money for Standard staples. The caretaking of the format declined after Nagle took over, although I realize constantly balancing avatar abilities is Sisyphean. Since the format was axed competitively, I've spent much less time and money on magic, and drifted towards drafts.

My favourite two avatars were Dakkon and Loxodon Hierarch. Dakkon was subtly powerful, since you (almost) never mulliganed, and could maindeck sideboard cards. Loxodon was great for all the weird decks it spawned like Hatching Plans + Zubera + Magus of the Disk. Or comboing with Lorwyn Elementals.

Anyway, thanks again.

I have, yeah. Someone else actually mentioned that to me after I showed them a prototype, so I got the iPad version and tried it out. There are definite similarities (move a single settler around, victory condition is to survive a barbarian invasion) but the gameplay ends up being rather different. I do like how streamlined the turns are in Oasis though.

A quick note, regarding your 'depth talk' at IndieCade. You spoke of playing around with Desktop Dungeons mechanic in a civ theme. Have you seen or tried Oasis?
