You have been evaluated in the emergency department today for a skin infection of your breast called mastitis. Please continue to breast feed your baby from this breast. The antibiotics prescribed will not hurt your baby. Follow up with your primary care physician within 2 days for a re-evaluation of the skin infection to make sure it has not spread and is getting better. If you do not have a primary doctor, you can call your insurance company to find one. If you do not have insurance, you can look for one on this of local clinics or go to the finance/registration department for more assistance. Return to the Emergency Department if you experience an increase in area of redness, persistent fevers, increased tenderness/warmth around the skin infection, or any other concerning symptoms
