Discharge //
Your child was evaluated in the emergency department today for a febrile seizure. Your child is cleared to be discharged home. Please read the attached information about febrile seizures. Your child most likely has a viral syndrome as the etiology of his/her fever. Please alternate Tylenol and Motrin every 4-6 hours to help control fever and give plenty of fluids. Please follow up with your pediatrician within one to two days. If you do not have a Pediatrician, you can walk into the pediatric clinic on the scheduled clinic days to establish a doctor for you child. Return to the Emergency Department immediately if your child experiences persistent fevers greater than 100.4F that cannot be controlled with Tylenol/Motrin, recurrent vomiting, seems altered or is acting differently than usual, lethargy, another seizure within 24 hours, a seizure lasting longer than 20 minutes, difficulty breathing, or any other concerning symptoms.
