Discharge //
Your child has been evaluated in the emergency department today for diarrhea. Their evaluation was not suggestive of any emergent condition requiring medical intervention at this time, and your child's diarrhea is most likely due to a viral or mild bacterial food-borne illness that should get better in a couple days. Please keep your child well-hydrated with Pedialyte and Gatorade. Please follow up with your pediatrician within one to two days. If you do not have a Pediatrician, you can walk into the pediatric clinic on the scheduled clinic days to establish a doctor for you child. Return to the Emergency Department immediately if your child cannot tolerate oral intake, has worsening abdominal pain, persistent fevers of 100.4F or greater, recurrent vomiting, blood in vomit, blood in stool, dark tarry stool, or any other concerning symptoms.
