You were noted to have tenderness of your hand in the area of your scaphoid bone. Although your X-Ray was negative, fractures frequently do not show up in this area and you were splinted as a precaution. Please keep the splint clean and dry. Please elevate your hand above your head/heart as much as possible to reduce swelling. Please icu your hand to help control pain. Please follow up with an orthopedic or hand surgeon in about 1 week. Please follow up with your primary care physician within two days. If you do not have a primary doctor, you can call your insurance company to find one. If you do not have insurance, you can look for one on this of local clinics or go to the finance/registration department for more assistance. Return to the Emergency Department if you experience worsening pain, numbness/tingling, change of color in your hand or fingers, or any other concerning symptoms.
