EJ PIC Line/ External Jugular Peripheral Line Placement by Alexandra Dyer, MD: Nursing staff unable to obtain IV access. Location: [XOXOXO] external jugular vein Pt provided verbal consent for IV Usual prep with chlorhexidine 18g IV placed on first attempt. Flash noted, and catheter advanced smoothly into the vein. NS saline flushed without resistance, witnessed swelling, or patient discomfort IV secured with I-site and tegaderm The patient tolerated the procedure well. Results: Venous flow and easy flush Compl: Neurovascularly intact, no extravasation or expanding hematoma Secured with transparent dressing. No complications.
