Dark red flash noted, and catheter advanced smoothly into the vein NS saline flushed without resistance, witnessed swelling, or patient discomfort. Neurovascularly intact, no extravasation or expanding hematoma IV secured with I-site and tegaderm The patient tolerated the procedure well.
