Peritonsillar Abscess Drainage with irrigation by Alexandra Dyer, MD: Indications, risks, and benefits explained to patient and verbal and written informed consent obtained. Correct patient and procedure type was verified. 1) The patient was anesthetized using 2cc hurricane spray 2) Abscess Location: XX peritonsillar area 3) Abscess Size: about 2-3 cm fluctuance 4) Procedure description: A size 4 MAC blade was used for visualization of the peritonsillar abscess Hurricane spray to anesthetize the area An 18-gauge needle with the Cut off 1.5 cm was used for aspiration of the peritonsillar abscess XX cc purulent aspirate was obtained Nolood was aspirated, the patient tolerated the procedure well, noted improvement of his symptoms after the procedure 5) Culture specimen(s) obtained and sent for testing? _ Yes _ No The patient tolerated the procedure with some discomfort.
